On August 23, the typhoon “Heaven” landed on the ports of Zhuhai, Gongbei, Hengqin, and Jiuzhou in Guangdong, causing Zhuhai Cross-border Industrial Zone and Doumen customs clearance services suspension. On the morning of August 24, all ports except Jiuzhou resumed customs clearance, but the route from Jiuzhou Port to Hong Kong urban area and Hong Kong Airport has not been restored, since the backwater flooded the entry and exit inspection hall of Jiuzhou Port when the typhoon landed, left the inspection facilities in the hall severely damaged and the entire port devastated.
Jiuzhou Port, the only direct route from Zhuhai to Hong Kong, accomodates more than 7,000 inbound and outbound passengers every day. In the face of the sudden and devastating disaster, the leaders of Guangdong Province and Zhuhai Municipal Government paid high attention to the resumption of Jiuzhou Port after the disaster. On the afternoon of the 24th, Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, who was being on a business trip in Beijing, rushed to Zhuhai to investigate the disaster, visit and comfort the victims and the rescuers fighting on the front line, inspect and guide the disaster relief, and emphasized the need to go all out for disaster relief, so as to help the affected people to resume normal production and living as soon as possible.
Having been engaged in port construction more than 20 years, we have constructed urgent and important domestic port projects time after time.
