At 10 a. m. on August 18, 2020, the opening ceremony of the new passenger inspection area of the Hengqin Port was held, suggesting that the new ¡°super passage¡± of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was put into service. As the contractor for the information system for the inspections at the ports on the Hengqin side and the Macao side, we were invited to attend the opening ceremony.

On the opening ceremony, Ma Xingrui, the governor of Guangdong Province, said that official opening of the Hengqin Port would surely make Guangdong and Macao tied closer to provide more convenient and better services for the personnel exchange and economic and trade contact between them, create more power for development and construction of the Hengqin New Area and provide a better support and lay a solid foundation for overall deepening of the cooperation of the two places and construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

He Yicheng, the chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, said that construction and management of the Hengqin Port had an unprecedented cooperation mode; the ports on the two sides shared the same building, facilities and equipment; in construction of the new passenger inspection area, staff of the two sides overcame difficulties including the COVID-19 epidemic and the problems due to the two sides¡¯ differences in terms of legal system, engineering, management, technologies and so on by means of mutual cooperation, support and understanding; the new cooperation mode gave a new meaning to the ¡°one country, two systems¡± and set a new example of cooperation between the mainland China and special administrative regions.??

On 3 p.m. on the day, the first passenger since opening of the new passenger inspection area of the Hengqin Port went through port smoothly after Zhuhai-Macao ¡°Cooperative Inspection¡±.

In construction of the new passenger inspection area of the Hengqin Port, we constructed tens of subsystems on the Zhuhai side and the Macao side of the Hengqin Port with our more than twenty years of experience in port construction; we constructed the information systems of Public Security Forces Affairs Bureau, Public Security Police Force, Judiciary Police, Customs, Health Bureau, Transport Bureau, Identification Department?of?Macao. It was our first time to undertake large-scale construction of the Macao Port. The active communication and coordination of our management, researchers and technicians on the site with users and their professional technical skills and abilities in large projects were recognized by the users on both the Zhuhai side and the Macao side.
